Christmas Tart

You know that moment when the light bulb above your head goes "ding"  and lights up ?

Yeah that happened tonight.

Here I was happily putting together a chicken pot pie . (My grandmother's version which is a whole 'nother post.)

When suddenly, I thought "hey I have fresh cranberries".

Cranberries.

An extra pie crust.

Granny Smith Apples.

A Tart.

Green Granny Smith.

Red fresh cranberries.

Christmas.

A Christmas tart !!!!

Wait. Did I stumble on a tradition?

Cause , if I did......... boy howdy!!!!!

It was like magic.

Messy, and Delightful.

My two year old and The Soldier Man couldn't get enough !

So here is what you will need:

1 tsp. Vanilla

Cinnamon to taste.

Two granny smith apples.

1/2 cup fresh cranberries .

1/3 cup honey.

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup cubed butter

1 pie crust

Add all except pie crust to a bowl and mix. Sprinkle about a handful of flour to bind it all.

Lay pie crust on a baking sheet and dump the filling into the middle.

Fold edges of crust over and pop it into a 400 degree oven.

Bake until crust is golden and filling is bubbling.

Sprinkle extra cinnamon and brown sugar.

It's best eaten when it's too hot and we burn our mouths because the cranberries make such a cheery red when baked , and we can't resist it. Like we can't resist putting on red lipstick, when feeling extra sassy.

This is a sassy tart.

The good kind of sassy. Like sassy red lipstick.
